North Lincolnshire Edge
Running north from Lincoln to the Humber, the high ground of the North Lincolnshire Edge
affords dramatic views westwards across the Trent Vale. The verges of Ermine Street and the rural
roads that connect with it may support wildflower-rich grassland that has not yet been discovered.
The rolling landscape of the Lincolnshire Wolds,
underlain by chalk, is crossed by ancient routes
and broad drove roads which could offer vital
corridors for wildflowers and the wildlife that
depends upon them.
Stretching from Lincoln to Peterborough, the
Lincolnshire and Rutland Limestone Natural Area
connects limestone heath and the Lincoln Cliff
